Debate Summary

I think the debate went well considering how debates go, but I did notice that a lot of the time the two groups would not necessarily be arguing the same topic. Whether this was from a misinterpretation of what was stated or something else, many times during rebuttals it would seem both teams would seem to be arguing different points then were mentioned. I also noticed that at times if a group had chosen a 'weak' argument, when trying to further explain it, the idea became more unclear.

I also find the idea behind a debate rather unproductive because both side refuse to see validity in the other's argument. Though some might enjoy the continuous cycle of critiques, I generally think arguments would be better solved through rational discussion rather than unending arguments.

Overall I'd say both sides did a good job with their arguments and rebuttals and the debate went very well. I would also like to give credit to judges, especially Jessica, who was very impartial and asked difficult questions to both sides and showing no favoritism.
